PANJIM: In a sensational revelation, notorious criminal Michael Fernandes, who was arrested in a theft case committed at gun point, has denied any links with Joe Boy or that the latter gave ‘supari’ (contract) to kill State Home Minister Ravi Naik’s son Roy.
Joe, who was on the run after Michael’s reported confession that he was offered Rs 2 crore to harm Naik family, appeared before the Porvorim police inspector Manoj Mardolkar.

olice sources said Joe emerged at the police station with the anticipatory bail order granted by local Court in April last year.
As his interrogation began behind closed doors, Michael, lodged in the Porvorim police lock-up was called inside.
Both confronted each other. Police sources further said that Michael was asked whether he knew Joe, to which he replied in the positive.
To a following question whether Joe offered him the contract to kill Roy, Michael promptly replied, “No”.
Appalled, PI Mardolkar repeated his question but Michael was reportedly firm on his answer. Ironically, his statement was not recorded either in writing or otherwise.
Joe, it is learnt, then fumingly asked Michael why he gave a contradictory statement earlier because of which he “faced problems”.
Sources said, “Michael remained quiet and was taken back to the lock-up.”
Joe was then escorted to Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ravindra Yadav’s office in the Panjim police headquarters in a police jeep.
“The DIG initially had a meeting with the North SP Vaman Tari and DySPs P Mapari and Gajanan Prabhudesai and inspectors Edwin Colaco and Mardolkar for about half-an-hour. Joe was subsequently taken inside where DIG asked him a couple of questions and let him off,” sources added.
It is learnt that Raju and Norulla, with whom Michael has close links are likely to be summoned in connection with the case.
