PANJIM: The State Department of Public Health has issued a notification regarding the interns of batch 2020-21 at Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim.
The order refers to guidelines from the Centre in view of the unprecedented pandemic and opening of more COVID-19 wards, wherein the National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) (NEET PG) exams had been postponed not before August 31; and the State had been directed to persuade all the prospective NEET PG aspirants to join the COVID-19 workforce and that the services of these MBBS doctors be utilised in the management of COVID-19.

The order states the extended internship for interns’ batch 2020-21 stands condoned uniformly, only as a one-time measure and that all these interns shall join the duties on bond service with immediate effect upon receipt of the appointment orders.
All these interns shall submit an undertaking that they shall immediately resume duties as post MBBS bond service doctors either in GMC or Directorate of Health Services, wherever they are posted.
In order to facilitate and speed up the above appointments, the Goa Medical Council shall facilitate to provide permanent registration to all the interns as per the list to be submitted by the Academic Section of the GMC.
