MAPUSA/SIOLIM/SALIGAO: With the Model Code of Conduct in force, six candidates including those of the BJP, Congress and an Independent have been booked by Goa Police for allegedly violating the orders of Election Commission of India and Public Health Department.
Mapusa Police booked Mapusa MLA and BJP candidate Joshua D’Souza and Congress’ Mapusa candidate Sudhir Kandolkar for violating the protocol of only 10 members for door-to-door poll campaign. Similarly, Anjuna Police booked Congress’ Siolim candidate Delilah Lobo and Independent candidate Patrick Savio Almeida while Saligao Police have booked former minister and Congress’ Calangute candidate Michael Lobo and Congress’ Saligao candidate Kedar Naik.
All of them have been booked under Sections 188 and 269 of the Indian Penal Code for moving around with more than 50 people for the door-to-door election campaigning thus acting in negligent manner which can spread COVID-19.
