MARGAO: After visiting the flood-hit area of Sanvorcotto-Cuncolim on Wednesday morning, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado said the government would re-build the compound walls and other structures damaged in the locality.
“We have promised the people that the government would re-build the compound walls and other structures hit by the flood,” he said.
Replying to a question, he said the government would also compensate all those who have lost their household items. “I have come across reports that many residents have lost their household items such as refrigerators, washing machines, utensils etc.,” he said.
Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said the government will provide immediate and all-out assistance to the residents who bore the brunt of Tuesday’s flooding.
