Legal Metrology conducts raids at Verna, Fatorda

VASCO: The Office of the Inspector of Legal Metrology Vasco and Margao carried out raids on Friday and booked three cases and seized goods worth Rs four lakh. 
Nitin Purushan, officer of Legal Meterology Department Vasco Branch, informed that two enforcement cases were booked at reputed car service centre located at Verna, for using unverified and non-standard capacity measures.
“One package commodity case was booked at a distributor outlet at Fatorda and seized 240 packages of branded oil, rust coat spray and upholstery cleaners worth Rs 4 lakh for not bearing manufacturing date and date of import,” he mentioned.
The raids were carried out by Demu Mapari, Inspector Legal Metrology Margao and Purushan under the supervision of Arun Panchwadkar, Assistant Controller South Zone-I and Packaged Commodity and under the guidance of Prasad Shirodkar, Controller Legal Metrology and assisted by Sudhir Gaonkar and Pascoal Vaz.
Purushan revealed that the said offence is in violation of Section 8, 18 (1) and 24 of Legal Metrology Act 2009 and Rules 4, 6(1) (d) of Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodity) Rules 2011.
