MAPUSA: Pernem Police have arrested a gang of four members of motorcycle thieves and recovered seven engines of two wheelers.

According to Pernem Police Station Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi, one Pramod Dynandev Shegade, resident of Sawantwadi-Maharashtra, who is running a motorcycle repair garage at Agarwada-Pernem, lodged a complaint stating that unknown accused persons stole Activa and Honda Dio scooters, which were kept outside the garage for repairs. The stolen vehicles were transported in one Tata Ace rickshaw by the accused.
The police immediately registered an offence and took up the investigation and formed various teams. Police got the CCTV footage of rickshaw passing from Agarwada and after thorough technical surveillance, could manage to get RTO registration number of the said rickshaw through CCTV and further laid the hands on the owner of the said rickshaw namely Mohamad Salman Manihar, resident of Karaswada, Mapusa.
He confessed his involvement in the crime along with three other accomplice. Pernem Police immediately formed various teams and arrested remaining three accused. All four accused confessed their involvement in the crime and disclosed their names as Mohamad Azam Ali Manihar (32), Salman Azam Ali Manihar (27), Sultan Azam Ali Manihar( 28) and Abdul Gulam Kadir (30), all resident of Karaswada, Mapusa.
The police than recovered the seven engines of the two wheelers, from a scrapyard at Karaswada, Mapusa. Engines of both the scooters, which were mentioned by the complainant, have also been recovered.Police are in process to trace the owners of the remaining five engines. Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SDPO Mapusa Gajanan Prabhudessai and SP North Shobit Saxena, IPS.
