Enforcement Squad holds inspections in Ponda to check for COTPA violations

PONDA: The Ponda Taluka Enforcement Squad conducted inspections in Ponda town on Thursday to check for Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act 2003 (COTPA) violations.

The squad booked cases in the Upper Bazaar area for violation of Section 4 & 6(a) and recovered fines to the tune of Rs 1,400 from sweet marts, grocery shops, kiosks and a credit co-operative society office.

The squad led by Saiesh Naik Ponda Taluka Jt Mamlatdar and GOACAN co-ordinator Roland Martins was accompanied by Vishwanath Gaonkar,Talathi, Manoj Y Naik, Sanitary Inspector, PHC Ponda and PSI Shamrao G Chavan. 

The squad found sweet shops and grocery Shops registered with the Directorate of Food and Drug Administration violating Section 4 of COTPA.
