The reason being that Crime Branch (CB), which probing a similar case of land grab in four survey numbers, is expected to file a chargesheet soon.
The Mapusa Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) on October 15 directed the Porvorim Police Station to register an offence based on a petition filed by Trajano D’Mello alleging that Parulekar brothers hatched a criminal conspiracy to grab prime property of the Serula Comunidade in connivance with concerned officials. Since his complaints on October 18 and October 23, 2014 at Porvorim Police Station were not registered, he moved the JMFC.
Interestingly, the CB which handed over investigation into the same offence against Parulekar, his brother Pramod alias Dabolkar, former attorney of the Serula Comunidade Peter Martins, former administrator of the Comunidades (North Zone, Mapusa) Irene Sequeira and others, last year, has nearly completed the probe.
“Since CB is already investigating similar complaint including the survey number identified in the presence complaint, we moved our higher-ups to take a decision whether or not to register another FIR. We will take action accordingly,” Porvorim PI Brendon D’Souza told Herald.
The CB’s investigation is being closely monitored by the special court that directed the investigation agency to submit status report on the probe. In one of its reports, the court was informed that Parulekar had allegedly encroached on Serula comunidade property but later approached the comunidade to regularize the same under the Code of Comunidades. An officer alleged that comunidade members illegally regularized the encroached property and Parulekar was unaware of this.
In January 2014, the Porvorim PS registered an FIR against the alleged accused based on the directions of the JMFC, Mapusa and subsequently transferred the probe to CB in April 2014.
