MARGAO: Margao Urban Health officials on Wednesday descended atop the Moti Dongor following detection of malaria cases.
The health team conducted screening of the area and carried out anti-larvae operations since four cases of malaria were detected atop the hillock in the last two days.
Margao Urban Health Officer Dr Sanjay Dalvi said the drive is being undertaken since two migrants, besides two locals, staying atop the hillock had tested positive for malaria. “Though the situation atop the hillock is well under control, the health centre decided to carry out a concerted drive as a precautionary measure,” he said. Replying to a question, Dr Dalvi said that around 100 houses atop the hillock were covered by the health team, adding that the residents staying in the ‘bastis’ were guided on the preventive measures.
