Arron tricks for Perpetual Succour Convent Navelim

MARGAO: Our Lady of Snows HS, Raia and King’s HS, Sao Jose de Areal stormed into the quarter-finals of Salcete Taluka under-14 Subroto Mukherjee inter-school football tournament organized by DSYA at Manora ground, Raia on Wednesday.
Snows overcame St Xavier’s Institute HS, Curtorim by a solitary goal. Eddie Fernandes scored the all-important goal in the first half as he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
After resumption, St Xavier’s Institute put up a better display and tried hard to get back into the game but failed to get past the rival rearguard.
Our Lady of Snows had a couple of scoring opportunities but their strikers frittered away the chances from close range.
In the second match, King’s School hammered Vidya Vikas Academy 3-0 after leading 1-0 at the lemon break. King’s dominated the game and kept their opponents on the back-foot. Avinash Pandey opened the scoring in the opening session and Princeston Fernandes registered a brace in the second half.
Arron Alvares’ hat-trick helped Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim trounce St Pius HS, Orlim 3-0 in the third match after a barren first half.
Perpetual Succour held the upper hand in both sessions whereas St Pius were at the receiving end and failed to contain the rampaging rival strikers.
Mae dos Pobres HS, Nuvem scored in each half to blank Infant Jesus HS, Colva 2-0. Robin Borges and Max Colaco scored for Mae do Pobres.
Fr Agnel Multipurpose HS, Verna swamped Saviour of the World HS, Loutolim 3-0. Fr Agnel led 2-0 at the breather. Xavier Colaco struck twice while Ashley Gomes added misery to the rival woes by slamming past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
