VASCO: Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) chairperson Nandadeep Raut on Thursday informed that the municipal building is at risk if not repaired and renovated before monsoon.
Speaking to the media persons, the chairperson revealed that Mormugao municipal building has taken beating especially during monsoons as leakage has been reported at several places including at the counter and school premises.

Raut said, “When the new council was formed the previous chairperson had sent the proposal to renovate and repair the municipal building to GSUDA and Directorate of Municipal Administration. However, the entire process took much time and recently we received the approval to carry out the work.”
“I have asked the Municipal Engineer to pursue this matter and try to undertake necessary repair works before heavy rains,” Raut said.
The chairperson also informed that the proposal worth around Rs 4-5 crore to renovate and repair the entire municipal building has been passed, but the work is yet to be executed.
It may be recalled that last year there was ceiling seepage problem. There were around 470 students in the high school coming from Baina, Vasco, Zuarinagar and Mangor areas.
School teachers and councillors had urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter and pursue the repair work immediately.
It’s sad that things have not improved this time either. The ceiling seepage problem still persists.
