CANACONA: The scene at a higher secondary school in South Goa on Tuesday was virtually lifted from ‘Munnabhai MBBS’, but the female student could not replicate the actor’s luck and was promptly caught copying in her exams, after a Bluetooth device was found attached to her ear.
According to a highly reliable source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, the incident occurred at a higher secondary in South Goa, when the female student reportedly hoodwinked supervisors throughout the examinations and nearly got away, till she was caught on the last day of the exams.
The student was severely reprimanded along with her parents, and if reports are to be believed, the school management has decided to conduct an internal inquiry to trace other culprits involved in assisting the student.
“Since the commencement of exams, the girl student had chosen one corner of the classroom and was found indulging in a peculiar habit of talking to herself, once the question papers were distributed. Students seated near her also found the girl with her head bent towards one side and covering one of her ears with her long hair, while seated in the examination hall,” said the source.
The girl’s unusual behaviour reportedly went on during all examination days, but on the last day on Tuesday, some students raised suspicion and a supervising teacher was aghast to find a Bluetooth device tucked to her left ear.
“It is learnt that this particular student was reading the questions loud enough to transmit them through her Bluetooth device to an accomplice. Later, the answers were apparently read out or prompted to her from the other end, enabling her to answer her exams,” the source said.
“Despite being reprimanded, the student desperately tried to extricate herself from the situation, by insisting that she was listening to music and was in the habit of hearing music through the device,” the source added.
Refusing to buy her story, the school management summoned her parents and apprised them of their child’s actions while answering her exams. The school management has reportedly decided to initiate appropriate action in the matter.
“Had it not been for suspicion raised by her fellow students and an alert supervisor, the hi-tech female student would have escaped with her ingenious and dubious methods of answering the exams. This is one of the side effects of using hi-tech methods of communication,” the source said.
