MMC urges Bogda locals to take safety precautions

PANJIM: In its appeal to the people residing behind the MPT Quarters at Bogda, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) called for taking precautions to ensure their safety in view of the landslides and water logging reported in recent times.

PANJIM: In its appeal to the people residing behind the MPT Quarters at Bogda, the Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) called for taking precautions to ensure their safety in view of the landslides and water logging reported in recent times.
The areas include Bogdeshwar Temple, El- Monte Theatre, Upper Jetty-Mormugao, Islampur-Baina, Remmy Furtado house, Holy Cross, construction site lake opposite Candelaria Church, GSL-New Vaddem-Vasco, Drivers Hill, Khariwada, Sada, Bogda, Desterro, Baina, Harbour Jetty, Mangor Hill Vaddem and New Vaddem. 
The appeal has been issued by Mormugao Municipal Council Chief Officer. 
The above cited place/areas are prone to natural calamities and the possibilities of further damage to the said areas cannot be ruled out especially during monsoon. The MMC has already issued notices to these households in the past.
The public is therefore informed to immediately vacate such house/premised with household materials as a safety measure, since there is possible danger to the lives of the occupants especially during monsoon. The MMC has further appealed to the people to cooperate.
It has warned that the occupants of the said houses who choose to continue residing in such premises despite issued notices in the past will be doing so at their own risk and will be responsible for consequences if any, arising in near future because of landslides etc.
