PONDA: Perhaps influenced by similar incidents in North India, four masked thieves decamped with ICICI Bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at Tisk Usgao.
The ATM had cash amounting to Rs 3.90 lakh.
The thieves clamped the eye of the CCTV camera with tape and so no robbery footage was captured.
Later, on Saturday evening at around 6 pm the ATM was found empty and abandoned at roadside at Savribhat, Velguem.
Police suspect that the accused may have fled to Maharashtra or Karnataka after stealing cash from the ATM.
According to Ponda Police the ATM was located at ground floor a building at Tisk, Usgao.
Itachi Payment Services Manager Lekhraj Mashelkar has filed a complaint with Ponda police late on Saturday evening. Investigation is on.
Meanwhile, the peculiar behaviour of ICICI staff has baffled media and locals, who seemed more concerned than the staff that failed to respond till late Saturday evening or file a complaint.
