PANJIM: Amidst nationwide protest and controversies, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main) for admissions in top engineering colleges in India, commenced on Tuesday in Goa with strict COVID-19 protocols. The examinations are being held in two shifts at both the centres.
Nearly 2,000 candidates from Goa have registered for JEE (Main) exam, conducted by the National Testing Agency. The computer-based test was held in two shifts-from 9 am to 12 am and from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Ensuring proper social distancing norms, 12 students in each class were permitted in both the centres — SRIEIT Shiroda and TCS, at Patto Plaza. The students, who appeared at the centres, were asked to discard their masks and provided new face mask after thermal screening which was done to check their temperature.
The candidates were allowed to carry sanitisers and water bottles along with them inside the centre. A medical team was also deployed at the centre in case of need. The centres saw police presence to ensure social distancing and to avoid any untoward incidents.
The JEE main examination will conclude on September 6. The results are likely to be announced tentatively on September 10. The JEE (Advanced) is scheduled on September 27.
