Govt extends deadline to renew DDSSY card till Sept 30

PANJIM: With over 40,000 families, enrolled for the cashless insurance scheme, yet to renew for the policy period that commenced from Tuesday, the State government has extended the deadline to renew their Deen Dayal Swasthya Seva Yojana (DDSSY) card till September 30. 

The two-month long renewal process that had begin from July 1, conclude on August 31. In view of COVID-19 situation, the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) had provided online facility for card renewal.

The renewal is for next policy period from September 1, 2020 to August 31, 2021. There are 2.9 lakh cardholders in the State covering 10 lakh population. 

Sources informed that nearly 40,000 families are yet to renew their cards and hence government decided to grant further one month extension. 

The DHS has asked the cardholders, who have not renewed, not to wait for renewal SMS and to get it done online or visit the DDSSY Kendra. 

A three-member family is provided an insurance cover of Rs 2.5 lakh while the family of four or more members is provided a cover of Rs 4 lakh under the scheme

The annual renewal fee for a family of three or less members is Rs 200 and for a family of four and above is Rs 300. 

“Concession of 50 per cent will be considered for OBS, ST, SC and differently eligible person on produce of required documents,” the DHS said.
