PANJIM: The Goa University has finally agreed to award marks/credits to students who volunteered at last year’s National Games held in the State.

In a circular dated October 17, 2023, issued by the Registrar of Goa University, it was stated that GU has approved the awarding of marks/credits to students of affiliated colleges who offer their services as volunteers during the National Games held in October and November last year.
Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira had intervened in the matter after he received pleas from students stating that the University was yet to award them marks/credits for volunteering at the National Games held in October last year despite the circular by the Registrar of Goa University. Adv Ferreira called up the Registrar and made it clear that this would be a clear case of cheating and those responsible would be held liable for criminal action. Pursuant to which, the Registrar sent a WhatsApp message the next day assuring the MLA that the issue was discussed with the Vice-Chancellor and resolved, and that the University will take the circular into consideration and issue revised results,” Ferreira said.
Ad Ferreira said that the University was dilly-dallying on this matter, while the date was approaching for submission of applications for examinations, and the students were hoping to get the marks soon. “We must not play with the futures of our youth who have toiled to give it their best for the National Games,” he said.
