PONDA: Gomantak Bhandari Samaj president Ashok Naik has urged members to refrain from discussing internal community issues publicly, claiming that it damages the Samaj’s reputation and invites external commentary. He emphasised that internal disputes should be resolved within the Samaj platform.

He said that the Samaj is the largest community in Goa, however nowadays internal differences have cropped up which are discussed in public.
Naik urged the members to have patience and protect the image of the Samaj.
Naik expressed regret that some ambitious members with political support have made internal matters public, causing harm to the community. Despite efforts to resolve issues through meetings and discussions, a few individuals have sought legal and media intervention.
Naik highlighted the Samaj’s transparency and invited members to visit the office for verification.
“I am still interested in solving issues by holding discussions and meetings, but some members have spoiled the reputation of Samaj. Some have approached the court and media to find a solution to these differences. There are many communities in Goa but their differences never appear in public,” he said.
Lamenting the negative impact on the younger generation due to recurring public disputes, he said after a gap of certain years such activities are repeating. Due to such differences cropping up in public, the youth are distancing themselves from taking part in welfare of Samaj, hence members should keep patience. He said the tenure of Bhandari Samaj Committee ends in November and as per Samaj’s Constitution, a new panel would be elected and not selected.
