MAPUSA: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Friday urged the Bharatiya Janata Party not to politicise Covid Pandemic while blaming the current government for second Covid wave in the State.

“State government is busy diverting attention of the people from rising Covid-19 cases in the State through Tika Utsav initiative. The central government’s initiative is a welcome step as more people will be vaccinated, however, the attempts by BJP to take political mileage out of it is deplorable”, Khaunte said.

Khaunte said that the impression is being created that the vaccines are provided by BJP, while in reality, it is a central government sponsored programme where funds are provided from tax payers’ contribution.

Khaunte further demanded that the State government, keeping aside politics, should involve the local panchayats and panch members in Tika Utsav rather than making it look like BJP mandal activity.
