Panjim: Ahead of the crucial counting day of the two LS seats and four Assembly by-polls, security at both the strongrooms has been enhanced with additional paramilitary being deployed.
DIG Parmaditya informed that besides the three layers of security, an additional company of paramilitary force has been added to each strongroom, in North and South Goa.
“There are three layers of security with the first one of paramilitary force, then the IRB and then local police. In addition one company each has been designated to each strongroom which will cover the entire premises from outside as the fourth layer”, he stated.
DIG further brushed aside apprehensions of any threat of EVM manipulation while they are stored at the strongroom and stated that the strongrooms are completely sealed with two layers of seal.
“No unauthorised individual is allowed entry into the premises, leave alone the strongroom. Those who are permitted to be present at the premises have to note down their details in the register at the premises. This procedure is mandatory even for the officials as well as the representatives of the political parties who are authorised by the ECI”, he said. Security will be maintained in the respective areas as well.
