With reference to Herald dated 03.10.14 indicating how Goa government refused to sponsor the trip of two young Goan powerlifters to USA, I feel now the Goans not only from Goa but even from abroad must come forward with their individual contributions to help these two Goan sportsmen to reach to their ambitious goal.
Let us not wait for Goa government but we as Goans come forward and shoulder this responsibility. Somebody must come forward and open an account in any Bank, publish the account number for the donors to remit their contributions to this A/c. The big corporate houses and the big personalities involved in the promotion of sports in Goa must be generous now.
While in Kuwait about 40 years back when the need to support Konkani movement financially in Goa was felt, I with the help of my like minded friends approached individual Goans and solicited donations from them which came into lakhs of rupees and the same was sent to Goa. From here I know we as individuals can do much more than the government.
