Panjim: As the case of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar resignation gains curiosity, no one within the party actually is willing to confirm his whereabouts and they are all tight-lipped over his resignation.

The party recently faced a major defeat in the Zilla Parishad (ZP) election, following which, Congress workers and leaders went on to criticize Chodankar and the decision makers in the election campaign.
This is not the first time that the party under the leadership of Chodankar has faced a defeat or has been left black faced due to the sudden political developments in Goa, which were detrimental to Congress.
The damage was severe this time round as they suffered their worst defeat till date and won only four seats.
As Herald attempted to find out the reasons for this kind of defeat for Congress, the news of GPCC President having resigned came to the fore. Herald has been trying to get in touch with Girish since then but there was no success.
Herald contacted Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat, who said, “Until I establish contact with Girish and confirm his resignation, I won’t comment,” he said.
The South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha also said that he has nothing more to comment on this. Now only Girish can shed more light on his resignation.
GPCC Vice-President Sankalp Amonkar said that Chodankar is alone not responsible for the party’s poor performance in the ZP polls but that all Congress leaders, MLAs and office bearers are responsible for it as well.
The final call on Chodankar’s resignation rests with the party.
