BICHOLIM: There is an atmosphere of panic in Bicholim after some unknown culprits burgled a house at Bordem and also threatened a councillor at gun pint who went to question them.
According to police, the incident occurred on Monday night at Housing Board colony at Bordem, where some unknown culprits entered the house of one Deepak Joshi after breaking open the lock of the front door.
As they were searching the house an alert BMC councillor, Vijaykumar Natekar who heard some commotion in the house entered the property only to see that three persons had ransacked the entire house and the cupboard.
Natekar immediately questioned the trio after which one of the accused pointed a gun at him. Fearing for this life, Natekar ran out of the house and called the neighbours and also informed the police.
Bicholim PI Sanjay Dalvi immediately arrived at the scene but the culprits had already managed to escape. After the incident there is an atmosphere of fear among the people in Bicholim even as the police have claimed that the gun pointed at Councillor Natekar could be fake one to frighten him.
The Joshi family is out of station and the police said the exact stolen amount, if any, would be known only after their return.
