Exasperated BSNL consumers have criticized the department for its poor and delayed services. Across Salcete and neighbouring talukas, citizens have complained that either they have not received a connection even though they had applied months ago, about bad network and very slow internet speeds.
Last year, South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar along with locals had met BSNL authorities in Margao over this issue. When pointed out that the situation had not improved despite the promises given by the service provider to the public at last year’s meeting, Sawaikar assured that he would look into the matter.
“I will take up the issue with the GM, BSNL Goa. I will also write to the higher office in Delhi, if need be,” said Sawaikar.
In Mugall Curtorim, there were complaints that BSNL provided a wired connection the residents of the area even though there are connections available at neighbouring wards. In Chandor, there are many areas that are suffering from similar connection issues and were even told that the distance is the issue.
At Nuvem, the BSNL network is in a bad shape and people have complained about poor network connectivity.
The student community in particular have already submitted memorandums to BSNL complaining about the very slow internet speed which has been counterproductive when they need the internet to prepare for projects and research as the internet constantly fluctuates.
Senior citizens and those who have family members working or living abroad have also rued the fact that they have been unable to use the internet for video chatting through applications like Skype due to the slow speeds.
