MARGAO: After the launch of the Goa Taxi App kiosk at the Margao Railway Station, taxi owners whose business depends on the Konkan Railway Station, met Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte with their grievances and suggestions regarding the app implementation.
Khaunte, accompanied by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat and his department officials, assured the taxi operators that there would be a review meeting within a month. He urged them to speak to Kamat after that period and if required he would also travel to Margao to discuss the issue with them.

Khaunte gave a patient ear to the taxi owners and allayed their apprehensions about the perception that the app would disrupt the local taxi business.
Khaunte said that the tourists want a taxi App, while Kamat pointed out that this is the norm at
all other tourist destinations in the country and
the world and the tourists cannot be denied their choice to use the app to book a taxi.
Following deliberations, it was decided that for now, both the existing counter that the local taxi operators use and the new Goa
Taxi App would run together so that there is a better understanding of how the system works.
Khaunte informed the taxi operators that their demands for financial assistance in running their counter at the railway station, subsidies for their taxis as well as resolving issues they have been facing with the local police and RTO officials, would be looked into by the departments concerned.
