RAIA: Maina Sports Club secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Dando Boys Club Benaulim inter-village football tournament with a 3-2 win against Santa Cruz Society of Poitomado, on Wednesday, at the Dando football ground, in Benaulim.
Milagres Fernandes shined for Maina Sports Club, delivering a stunning hat-trick with goals in the 3rd, 8th, and 18th minutes, giving his team a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime. Despite a strong comeback attempt from Santa Cruz Society, with Anish Patel and Jollyton Fernandes scoring in the 35th and 47th minutes, Maina Sports Club held on to their lead to secure the victory.
