PANJIM: Balrath Employees Union on Thursday issued 15 days ultimatum to the State government to meet their long pending series of demands including job security and salary on lines with the skilled workers, failing which have threatened to stop the operation of buses.

The employees held a meeting at Azad Maidan in Panjim, pressing for their demands that included job security, salary on the lines of skilled workers of the State government, payment of salary for all 12 months instead of just 10 months of the year and also extension of other benefits like PF, ESI, health insurance, etc.
Addressing media persons, All Goa United Bal Rath Union President Swati Kerkar said that these are long pending demands of the employees which are been neglected.
She said that these are legitimate demands of the employees. “If these demands are not met within 15 days we will stop operations. We don’t want to cause any inconvenience to the school children but government has left us with no other options,” she said.
The Balrath scheme was introduced in Goa in 2009. Schools get financial assistance to offer the service to students free of cost and are only available to students of aided schools and not government schools.
