PONDA: Ponda Police have registered an FIR (first information report) against a priest of Mangueshim Temple Dhanajay Bhave (51) for allegedly molesting a girl from Mumbai when she along with her parents visited the temple on June 22 this year.
The FIR has been registered following a complaint filed by mother of the victim girl.
Ponda PI Harish Madcaikar said complaint has been registered under Section 354 of IPC for molestation and conducting further investigation.
Meanwhile, Temple Committee President Chandrakant Dhume said that priest Bhave has been suspended temporarily following the registration of FIR against him. The committee has also called for strict punishment of the molestation accused if his guilt is proved.
Meanwhile, the accused in Mangueshim molestation case Dhanjay Bhave has been absconding ever since an FIR was registered against him. Police said that they could not trace him since Thursday. PI Harish Madcaikar said that the accused was not found at his residence.
It may be recalled that two complaints by two girls of Goan origin are being circulated on WhatsAapp since past few days, alleging that a Hindu priest molested them inside Mangueshim temple when they visited the temple along with their parents last month. The two girls were allegedly molested on different occasions.
