Social Work, Don Bosco College, Panaji, celebrated 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October
1, 2018.
Fr. Joquim Lobo,
Manager and Cedric Silveria Principal shared the dais with Mr. Kumar Kalanand
Mani, President of Peaceful Society, Kundai, the chief guest for the programme.
Mani known as a Gandhian activist was the actively involved in Sarvodya Bhoodan
Movement in Bihar and JP Movement. The program began with the lighting of the
lamp and garlanding the photos of Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

On the occasion
Social Work students sang Bhajan of Ragupati Raghav Rajaram and performed a
play on Gandhi’s Life.
Principal Cedric
Silveira delivered welcome address and highlighted how Gandhi followed
simplicity with truth and non violence in his life. Fr. Joquium Lobo spoke on
Gandhiji’s principle of truth which is missing in the present scenario.
Kumar Kalanand Mani
spoke on Gandhiji’s message for the youth. He said that Gandhi stood for
Secularism and he promoted caste less society with peace and harmony. He also
mentioned that youth should choose the path of Gandhiji for a peaceful nation.
At the end of the
programme Mani inaugurated a poster exhibition on Gandhi’s Life created by BSW
and MSW students.
