The Avedem–Cottombi Goval Village Panchayat has raised serious concerns following the third leopard attack on cattle in the village, urging the authorities to take immediate steps to prevent further incidents.
The latest attack, in which a cow was killed by a leopard, has heightened fear among residents, who say repeated attacks have created an atmosphere of anxiety despite earlier appeals for preventive action.

Villagers said they are living in constant fear, particularly at night, as the possibility of further attacks on livestock and even humans cannot be ruled out. Farmers, many of whom depend on cattle for their livelihood, have suffered repeated losses due to the attacks.
The Village Panchayat has appealed to the Forest Department, the district administration and the local MLA to implement effective long-term measures to address the issue. Among the demands are increased surveillance, installation of camera traps, continuous monitoring of leopard movement, deployment of rapid response teams and other preventive measures to minimise human-wildlife conflict while ensuring wildlife is managed in accordance with the law.
The panchayat stressed that the safety of residents and the protection of their livelihoods should be treated as a priority and expressed hope that the authorities would respond swiftly before another unfortunate incident occurs.
