PORVORIM: The condition of the road opposite Sainik Consumer’s Cooperative Society in Defence Colony at Porvorim is in pathetic condition.
It may be recalled that Traffic Police laid barricades at O’Coqueiro junction on the eve of New Year 2013 to avoid traffic chaos as per the directives of North Goa Collector. However due to the barricades, most vehicles proceeding from B B Borkar road and intending to proceed towards Saligao, Calangute and Mapusa now use the road passing through Defence Colony apposite Sainik Consumer’s Co-operative Society Ltd.
Due to continuous movement of vehicular traffic, several potholes have developed on that stretch of road, making driving difficult. The condition of the road has become pathetic and Salvador-do-Mundo Panchayat has failed to take any steps to repair it.
Residents of Defence Colony, Torda and Britona have demanded that the Traffic Police remove the barricades immediately to enable vehicles to proceed to Mapusa, Saligao, Sangolda and Calangute. “The traffic problem at O’Coqueiro junction can be solved through good traffic management,” said a resident.
