PANJIM: The state-of-the-art Porvorim market complex would be ready within the next two years, Housing Board Minister Milind Naik told the State legislative Assembly on Wednesday assuring that he would tender the work for the project within next one month.
Naik said that the T&CP has granted its approval for the project and the same has been forwarded to panchayat. “The delay in floating the tender was due to revision in the sub division plan of the area as the proposed market location is different from the existing market,” Naik said.
Porvorim legislator Rohan Khaunte questioned the delay in commencement of the work. “The ceilings are leaking, thus giving a hard time to shop owners. The market has also become a hub for migrants. The complex is in dilapidated condition,” he said.
The new project, estimated at Rs 15 crore, comprises 94 shops, 27 offices, conference hall, community hall, marriage hall and a restaurant. He said a consultant has been appointed.
