PANJIM: An indictment would be filed against former Information and Technology (IT) Minister Dayanand Narvekar in the Rs 10.65 crore scam related to IT Park at Socorro, by March 2014, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar assured State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
Narvekar had been indicted by the Comptroller Auditor General (CAG) report 2012.
BJP Aldona MLA Glen Ticlo quoting the CAG report during zero hour said that Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited (ITCGL) carried out various community development works amounting to Rs 10.65 crore despite High Court staying the land acquisition process for the project in 2007.
“Action should be initiated against the former Minister and officials involved in the scam. If government does not act then there is no meaning to the CAG report,” BJP legislator said.
The CAG 2012 report tabled in the House has said that state-owned Info Tech Corporation of Goa Limited went ahead and executed various community development works since October 2006 onwards which were not at all connected with the proposed IT Park
Government in 2005 had approved setting up of IT Park at Socorro, for which 8.73 lakh sq mtrs land was to be acquired. The notification for acquiring the land was issued in June 2006. Goa Foundation in October 2006 had filed a Writ Petition in the High Court stating that a part of the proposed land was under forest area and accordingly a stay was brought in April 2007 which blocked the land acquisition process.
