The incident came to light, when Herald received a call from the owner of an office on the same floor.
Employees working at a tailoring shop on the first floor told Herald that they did not notice any defacement of the Herald office till about 11.30 pm and said that the incident may have taken place sometime after midnight.
A police complaint has been filed.
