PANJIM: Ahead of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has begun taking a stock of the preparations for the 10-day long event scheduled from November 20.
Secretary Sunil Arora visited Shyam Prasad Mukhrjee Stadium, the venue for the opening and closing ceremony; Kala Academy, Inox courtyard and Maquinez Palace theatre where the movies will be screened.
The site visit was followed by a meeting of Arora, Entertainment Society of Goa’s Vice Chairman Damu Naik, Chief Secretary R K Shrivastava, Director of Film Festival Senthil Rajan, Secretary of Goa Information and Publicity Department Sudhir Mahajan on the law and order and related issues.
According to a press statement, the Union Secretary also took stock of arrangements for VVIP movement at all venues, feasibility about available infrastructure and providing all required ancillary services like police, fire brigade, and health department.
The ministry recently announced that actor Anil Kapoor has been invited as the chief guest to inaugurate the festival.
The Man Who Knew Infinity, a film based on the true story of friendship between Indian Mathematician Ramanujan and Professor G H Hardy is the opening film. The festival will showcase 187 films from 89 countries.
