Girish to join Ghate for a day-long satyagraha

PANJIM: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar will sit on a day-long satyagraha at Azad Maidan in Panjim to support activist Rajan Ghate in his fast unto death.
In a post on social media, Chodankar said, “Things in Goa are going from bad to worse. RTI activist Rajan Ghate has been on the fast unto death for the last eleven days, and the State government is not moving an inch showing its arrogance, inhuman, carelessness and selfish behaviour.”
He added, “To join hands with Rajan Ghate and the cause of Goans, I have decided to sit on a one-day-long satyagraha at Azad Maidan in Panjim, along with him.”
Supporting the demand for a working CM for Goa, Chodankar said he is equally concerned about the CM’s health as he is battling a dreaded illness.
“It is my personal feeling that the CM shouId give up his adamancy at the influence of his cronies and I also believe that Rajan Ghate should rethink and give up his fast to death in the interest of his family and Goa,” he continued.
He said that the lives of Parrikar and Ghate are precious for Goa.
“This struggle is to restore parliamentary democracy and governance in Goa,” Chodankar said. He said the demand is from the people of Goa and not just from the Congress as an opposition party.
“I will fast for a day with an Agrah for this Satya, on Tuesday, 27 November, from 10 am to 6 pm,” he added.
