MARGAO:  Aam Aadmi Party campaign has evoked enormous response in South Goa, especially in Salcete even as its candidate Swati Kerkar has completed door to door and corner meetings in constituencies of Velim, Benaulim, Curtorim, Nuvem, Cuncolim apart from Canacona and Ponda.
For the activist turned politician, the interactive campaign starts as early as 9 am and continues till 10 pm.  Activists Judith Almeida, Zarinha D Cunha, Sidharth Karapurkar, Abhijeet Prabhudesai, Jose Rock Andrade and others along with AAP office bearers Tribio Goes, Rashid Sousa and others are part of the campaign trail.
Swati, who was a co-convenor of the Goans for Dabolim Only (GFDO) movement which is for scrapping Mopa and sustaining Dabolim for the benefit of Goa and Goans, said that Reginaldo is fooling the people of the state by promising to scrap Mopa if he is elected. “He was a sitting MLA in the Assembly hasn’t done anything towards scrapping Mopa and now his pre poll promise which is nothing but a lie that he will scrap Mopa.
People should realise the fact that when his party high command and his government at the Centre has pushed for a green field airport, it is not possible for him to go against his party to take a stand on scrapping Mopa.
The BJP which was conspicuous with their absence at the GFDO meeting held at Lohia Maidan recently is known for trying to promote Mopa despite the fact that the people of the state are against the Mopa project as it is nothing but a land scam and a real estate scam”, she added.
Swati stressed that AAP is a party which will listen to the people and it is the people who will decide what is best for them rather than those sitting in the Legislative Assembly and Parliament.
“This is the last chance we have to change the system and the alternative is AAP which is for systemic change. It is not about changing faces but about changing the system for a corrupt free good governance”, she added.
Corner meetings were also held at Verna, Nuvem and Majorda on Saturday wherein many enthusiastic supporters offered to help in organising the meeting and expressed their support to the party.
