Control stray dog menace in city

On the roads, a stray dog’s bark is as bad as its bite and citizens are petrified of the packs roaming the streets.  The aggressive stray dogs chasing bikes and cars, causing accidents and aggrieved persons are seeking harsh action.  Stray dogs have become threat to human life.  

The number of stray dogs is increasing day by day in Panjim city and as seen at Bhatlem also.  The stray dogs appear on the roads, chase motorcyclists and vehicles which may cause accidents.  The stray dogs are usually seen around garbage heaps during the day and on the streets at night.

Canine menace is increasing day by day creating problems for those venturing out into the streets. Main reason for the menace is open garbage on the streets. Stray dogs scavenge on garbage.  Sincere efforts should be made to effectively sterilise every stray dogs with proper identity.  

The State and Central governments have to come up with large scale interventions and organisations that can deal with the issue of stray dogs in Goa and India.
