MARGAO: The Konkan Railway has recovered over Rs 2.17 crore in fines from 9,548 ticketless travelers in January 2024. This is the result of Konkan Railway’s continuous and intensive ticket checking drives.
In January 2024, a total of 9,548 unauthorized/irregular travelers were detected without tickets and were penalized. A total of Rs 2,17,97,102/- was recovered in fines, officials of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Konkan Railway has further appealed to passengers to travel with proper and valid tickets to avoid inconvenience, as KRCL will continuously conduct these intensified ticket checking drives along its entire route. It may be recalled that Konkan Railway had carried out multiple drives like this since last year.
Passengers are asked by KRC to embrace the principles of ‘Garv se yatra karein, sammaan se yatra karein, ticket lekar abhiman se yatra karein’ – that comes from holding a valid ticket. Konkan Railway remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring a seamless and lawful travel experience, and passengers are encouraged to collaborate in this collective endeavor, railway officials added.
