MAPUSA: A splendid hat-trick by Stephen Satarkar enabled Salgaocar Football Club to register a 5-0 win over Churchill Brothers Sports Club Reserves in the Goa Professional league, at Duler Stadium here on, Tuesday.
Both the teams playing there second league match saw Red Machine coach Norberto Gonsalves bring five changes in his starting XI playing Shiv Nandan Yadav in the goal Ginminthang Hangsing , U-20 Jobren Cardozo and Josley Dias, Preston Fernandes after their defeat to Vasco SC while Green Brigade coach Anthony Pereira brought just one change fielding Saurabh Patil after a win against FC Goa.
Both the teams playing cautiously restricted the play to midfield for almost 40 minutes of the first session with not a single attempt at the goals.
Suddenly, the Green Brigade increased the tempo of the match where a Valentinho Nazareth flashed the ball from the left flank to overlapping Stefano D’Costa who was a bit late to connect the ball past Churchill keeper Shiv Yadav.
Two more strikes by Ribhav Sardesai was first collected by Churchill keeper while the next went off the target.
In the 43rd minute substitute Stephen Satarkar stiff ground shot was pushed for a corner by keeper Shiv with a full stretched diving save.
The Red Machines only good attempt in the first session came in the injury time but a placement by Jobern Cardozo from close went just past the goal post.
A minute at the start of the second session, and Green Brigade should have broken the deadlock but Stephen and Steflon fumbled from close and the ball travelled to Selwyn Miranda who hit the side netting.
Another chance went in vain for Salgaocar where a chip at the far top post by Stephen went out.
However, Stephen Satarkar brought spark in the Salgaocar attack by scoring one of the fast hat-trick netting in the 63rd, 76th and 79th minutes.
At the other end, Velito Cruz’s strike from inside the penalty box was brilliantly pushed for a corner by the Salgaocar keeper Jason Dmello.
Salgaocar pumped in two more goals where Steflon D’Costa dribbling past a couple of defenders scored in the 84th minute while substitute Fhezer Gomes added his name to the scores list by hammering in the 88th minute.
