PONDA: The residents of Shapur-Bandora will soon have a breather from the grievous situation that had arisen due to construction of flyover near the Ponda KTC bus stand. A tunnel cum underpass would soon be constructed near the KTC bus stand allowing the traffic from Bandora, Marcaim and Chirpute to be diverted from this route. The development was announced by Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Wednesday.
Naik said that the construction work of the tunnel will start in the next two months. He was speaking at the sidelines of the inauguration function of the transformer installed in the vicinity of Nagesh Sansthan. Foundation stone for the new toilet to be built at KTC bus stand was laid on Wednesday. Villagers had earlier staged protests in front of Safa Majid over the dangerous situation of the road and traffic. Dhavalikar said that permission has been sought from the Archaeological Survey of India to construct a flyover and provide relief to residents of Chirpute.
