PERNEM: Dnyaneshwar Vithal Naik, aged 55, resident of Madhalawada Virnoda died in a hit and run case, at Virnoda, Pernem, on Tuesday.
According to the sources, accident occurred at 8 pm when the deceased person was proceeding from Oxelbagh to Virnoda on his motorbike registered GA-11 C 0664 when an unknown vehicle came and hit the scooter of the deceased person.
The impact was such that Dnyaneshwar sustained severe head injuries as he was thrown off the road and died on the spot.
PSI Vivek Halarnkar conducted the panchanama and the body was sent to GMC, Bambolim for post mortem. PSI Vivek is further investigating the case.
Meanwhile, the locals have blamed the highway authorities and the contractor for the haphazard ongoing work of the highway and the accidental deaths caused due to it.
