SANGUEML: Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar has said that there was no need for ex-MLA Subhash Phaldessai to launch an agitation demanding drinking and agricultural water for the people of Sanguem taluka as the same would be solved in toto in the near future.
Gaonkar was reacting to Phaldessai who set a fifteen-day deadline to the authorities concerned for solving the drinking and agricultural water problems of the people from Sanguem, failing which he threatened to launch an agitation.
Gaonkar was speaking at a press conference held at Sanguem on Saturday evening, where he informed a special meeting with the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar was held wherein a solution to the water supply problems faced by the people in Sanguem was discussed at length.
Gaonkar informed that the drinking water supply problems faced by the villagers of Wadem and Valkini would be solved this year while that of Neturlim and Rivona would be solved by end of next year. Similarly, the agricultural water supply problems faced by the farmers in Sanguem would be solved by next year and for this purpose work of construction of additional bhandaras will be undertaken by the Water Resources Department.
Gaonkar also said that a bridge will be constructed in Nunem village for the benefit of the villagers residing at Kumari, Dhate, Bomod and Dongor.
Living upto his election promise, Gaonkar informed that the foundation for the new hospital building would laid in the next two months and the construction would be completed within a period of next two years.
Gaonkar questioned Phaldessai as to why he could not solve the drinking and agricultural water supply problems faced by the locals during his tenure as an MLA from Sanguem and that too despite being a member of government.
Gaonkar urged Phaldessai not to misguide people.
