PANJIM: Ahead of the 2017
Assembly elections, the State Cabinet on Tuesday approved the filling up of
around 130 posts in various government departments, including 50 posts in the
tourist security force to man the beaches and ensure safety of tourists.
The Cabinet also granted its
nod to enhance the retirement age of non-teaching doctors from 60 years to 62
years. In future, it proposes to increase the retirement age of teaching doctors
from 60 years to 65 years.

Addressing media persons
after the cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said employees will
be recruited on contractual basis for the tourist security force and deployed
along the coastal belts. “Their main duty will be to keep a check on illegal
activities on beaches and overall safety and security of tourists,” he said.
Of the 50 posts, 39 posts of
tourist wardens, drivers and chief tourist security officer will be reserved
for ex-servicemen, Parsekar said.
The Chief Minister said that
as assured on the Floor of the House, consent has been granted for appointment
of 46 lecturers in various polytechnic institutions, with a basic pay scale
ranging from Rs 31,000 to 38,000 per month based on experience.
Similarly, the Cabinet has
revived 12 posts of audit assistant in the Department of Cooperation and
another 15 posts in its new zonal offices.
Parsekar said the creation
of five posts in the Department of Schedule Tribes Finance and Development
Corporation, two posts in the Children’s Court and two contractual appointments
of junior stenographers at the Juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare
Committee, have been approved.
The Cabinet has consented to
the appointment of two contractual workers to government advocates and has
appointed Pushpa Naik as private secretary to Goa Lokayukta, he stated.
The Cabinet has also given
ex-facto approval to extend the term of ten homeopathic doctors by a year.
Parsekar said the Cabinet
also granted its nod to enhance the retirement age of non-teaching doctors from
60 years to 62 years. “We had recently announced to increase the retirement age
of teaching doctors from 60 years to 65 years and non-teaching doctors to 62
years. Accordingly, the decision has been taken,” he said adding that the
decision will benefit nearly 100 non-teaching doctors.
