Political power play rules roost in Quepem

Of the eight panchayats in the Quepem constituency, five villages were taken over by panels backed by the BJP, while the remaining three elected panels were backed by Congress.

QUEPEM: In surprising defeats, Congress MLA Altone D’Costa failed to retain his home panchayat of Fatorpa, and former MLA Chandrakant Kavalekar faced defeat in his home panchayat of Betul Nakheri. 

Of the eight panchayats in the Quepem constituency, the five villages of Khola, Barcem, Avedem Cotombi, Fatorpa Quittol, and Ambaulim were taken over by panels backed by the BJP, while the remaining three- Betul Nakheri, Morpirla and Balli Adne panchayats on Monday elected panels that enjoy support from Congress.
