“The 49th International Film Festival of India, Goa (IFFI) will pay tribute to late Shashi
Kapoor and late Sridevi in the homage section. There will also be tributes to
late Vinod Khanna in a special retro section. Six to seven films on sports will
be screened, in the special sports section this year,”said vice chairperson of
IFFI co-organising body, the Entertainment Society of Goa, Rajendra Talak at a
press conference held in Panjim.
“This year, Israel has been finalised as
the focus-country and six-seven films will be screened in this section. Films
from 64 countries have confirmed their participation for the 49th IFFI,” Talak
added.
The official said a special section
dedicated to the Kapoor clan, from Prithviraj Kapoor to Ranbir Kapoor, will
also be a part of the festival this year. “The section will be inaugurated by
one of the Kapoors,” Talak said.
The 49th edition of the IFFI will be held from November 20 to
28, 2018. The opening and closing ceremony of the 48th International Film
festival of India will be held on November 20 and November 28 respectively at
Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. The opening film will be screened at Kala
Academy. The event, the biggest government-organised film festival in the
country, is organised by the ESG in association with the Directorate of Film
Festivals.
“IFFI 2018 delegate registrations has started for all cine
enthusiasts and professionals on payment of Rs 1000 and students will be
registered free. All applications of delegates who are registered with IFFI for
the last 2 years will be approved within 24 hours and new applications will be

“Bhupal
Ramnathkar has been appointed as a design consultant who has offered honorary
service to assist Entertainment Society of Goa for décor finalisation and
during execution of the work for the 49th IFFI,” said Sachin Chate while adding
that they are looking at celebrating the future of cinema at IFFI and that all
works related to the 49th IFFI are in progress as per schedule.
Other Activities
BIOSCOPE, which was very successful last year, will
be organised this year during 49th IFFI at SAG Ground and will open for
delegates, non delegates and children.
THEATRES will consist of 4 inflated theatres, for
children’s cinema, Marathi cinema and Indian cinema. All theatres will have 5.1
sound systems and a seating capacity of 150 seats each.
SKILL STUDIO at the centre of the campus would be a
studio that gives the youth glimpse into the opportunity of developing skills
for a career in the film industry. We will invite stalwarts of the film industry
and film institute’s to bring to our young audiences the excitement of careers
in films in the various technical aspects that go into film making. This will
be a great platform for the film enthusiasts and aspiring film makers to
understand the different career opportunities within the film industry.
KATTA will take place from November 21 to 27, every evening, between
7:30 to 8:30pm. There will be an interview session with a film celebrity by a
renowned film journalist at the Katta followed by public interaction.
CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES will includespecial screenings of
children’s films on holidays and AR/VR activities.
PROGRAMS
will take place in a
performing area with live music and international DJ playing after 9.00 pm and
an exclusive zone in the village for F&B and handicraft stalls, AR/VR games
for people of all ages.
