PANJIM: Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has ordered an inquiry into the delimitation process of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) wards, after it was revealed that nearly 200 names from Taleigao panchayat have been added in the list of CCP voters.
DMA has issued directions to the Tiswadi mamlatdar to submit a detailed report on the errors in the delimitation process, the final list of which was notified on January 9. It has been discovered that 200 voters from areas like Shankarwadi, Vadlebhat and Durgawadi, who had voted in the Taleigao panchayat elections, have been added as CCP voters.
Speaking to the media, DMA Director Elvis Gomes said the error is serious and hence the Tiswadi mamlatdar, who had initiated the delimitation process, has been directed to inquire and submit the report at the earliest.
As per the delimitation, the number of voters’ has reduced by 500 votes in 30 CCP wards. In the March 2011 elections, CCP had nearly 32,090 voters, which fell to 31,504 for the March 6 elections.
The delimitation show that 17 wards have reported a decrease in number of voters, while 13 wards have seen a sharp increase.
