PANJIM: The Aam Admi Party (AAP) launched a protest as the petrol price touched Rs 100 per litre in the State, on Friday. The protest was held near the old Secretariat, here and at the old bus stand, Margao.
The aim was to send a strong message against the spiralling rise of petrol and cooking gas prices. At the rally, people imitating themselves as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant offered cake to Goans filling petrol to ‘celebrate’ his century.

Addressing the media persons during the protest, AAP Convenor Rahul Mhambre said, “Never before have the Goans seen such an increase in petrol price which has hit Rs 100 per litre and cooking gas which touched Rs 900. These hikes have broken the backs of every Goan.”
“Yesterday, the BJP in their press conference admitted that there is a huge increase in the number of people falling below the poverty line (BPL). Earlier, the figure was 30, 000 under BPL in Goa, which has now touched 5 lakh i.e from 3 per cent of Goa’s population to 1/3rd of population today. This signifies the reality behind the propaganda around the development and growth the BJP has been spewing in Goa and how every household in Goa is on the brink of financial collapse,” he said.
