PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently handed over the letter sanctioning Rs 9.12 crore to Deputy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes for the reconstruction of the existing Canacona Municipality building.
Speaking to media persons thereafter, Isidore said that these funds of approximately Rs 10 crore will be handed over to the Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) which will carry out the construction work.

He then elaborated about how the work is important given the small size of the present building that is not sufficient even for councillors. He added that with the increasing population in Canacona, the need for the building to be reconstructed arose as the scope of civic works had also increased proportionally.
He said he had followed up this proposal that had been sent by the Canacona Municipal Council (CMC). He further listed how the State Urban Development Department had helped CMC and the public.
