Every season is more, every episode leaves us in suspense wanting to know more, and the show
goes on and on for years until one day they finally decide to wind up and leave
us heartbroken. That’s right; probably for some a breakup wouldn’t be so harsh
than watching their favourite show end. These shows tell different stories and
make us so attached to their world that we begin living their fictional world
as our reality.
Game of Thrones left many fans tense and
some disappointed because of its ‘not lived up to expectation’ finale . Missing
the show also becomes a crucial part of the problem. Recently, after the show
ended many reportedly slipped into depression.
“I swear! Ever since the show ended, my
dark circles have been fading. Otherwise I used to stay up all night watching
episode after episode. But, I feel hurt because I can no longer wander into
their world,” admits Joel Dias from Panjim
Shockingly, researchers have found out
that the web series ‘13 Reasons Why’ has affected young minds terribly causing
a lot of suicidal tendencies. The series is about a girl revealing tapes about
her harassment in her teenage life and commits suicide. “If you have faced
similar situations in real life like bullying, sexual harassment or any other
things shown in the series you automatically will try to attempt suicide,
because the show makes suicide look sweet, sympathetic and pretty,” says Pakhhi
Bannerjee from Vasco.
While many shows are too negative to handle, series like
FRIENDS, MR Bean, The Big Bang theory and the Simpsons have been running for
many years. They are often replayed on certain channels or online websites. The
shows are light hearted and people don’t mind watching them forever. “They make
you simply laugh together with your family or even when you are alone. I had
been through some rough phase in my life and FRIENDS lifted my spirit and gave
me company throughout,” expresses Ranjana Malik from Sanquelim.
Another show that has
been contagious for quite some time now is The Vampire Diaries. Unlike
twilight, the vampire show gives in depth details of the origins of vampires
and shows an epic friendship story; thus it attracted many curious people. The
show basically even captured the audience into their world by bringing out two
spin offs- The originals and Legacies. Though TVD ended, its spinoffs still
spread the disease.
“I used to watch it every day, and during free lecturers. I even
bunked classes to watch the show. This show is like a teenage dream come true,
because we all want to be loved, we all want to feel special, and we want to
have friends for eternity. More than talking about our exam papers we had
conversations of TVD,” shares Gabriella Dias from Caranzalem.
Similarly, Narcos web series became popular among all age
groups. “I love watching Narcos web series,” says Pratik Patel. “I went so deep
into the series that I used to ruin my sleep and reach the next day late
because watching it late at night.”
When
little kids do not listen, scaring them off with an upside down world with
demons and ugly creatures is the best idea until it takes over the Childs mind.
The show Stranger Things though has several good reviews and loved by many
creates the same fear in every child. “I used to watch it front of my younger
sibling at times. Later, I found out that she was even scared to go to the
washroom alone because of looking at the monster creatures in the series,”
admits Sachin Mhambrey from Bicholim.
